In this episode of Gardening 101 I show you how to stake, bottom prune and identify tomato suckers. Tomato sucker are actually production stems that will produce tomatoes. I also show you what I use to make hot compost and how to top dress tomatoes. Mick is doing really well!

  1. I am jealous now that my tomatoes have succumbed to the heat of summer. I picked about six today from eighteen plants. I will get a few more and that will be it. I have started a few plants to try for a fall crop. Seeds from your collection. Looking forward to August 31. Good luck.

  3. Great vid on suckers/ suckering. There's an ongoing debate in my family about what , why , how to deal with the PLANT! Every evening when I nurse my plants starting at the bottom, i say to myself, "Hmm should I cut that one?" "That one has blossoms", ? It really is a biology / art thing. Thanks for going over that again Gary. I'm guessing that 20 years from now I'll be watching another suckering video.. hmm..:) cheers and have a great weekend!
